My Name is PJ. I'm in the Instructional Design and Technology Ed.D. program at the University of Memphis, but that's my night job. During the day you will find me teaching Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. I've been a PA since 2003 and a faculty member for a year and half.
My interests academically lie in providing ways of integrating instructional strategy and design into PA education curriculum. PA education is very much like medical school, and right now the field is trying to incorporate new learning paradigms, like problem-based-learning, flipped classrooms, etc. There are certainly programs doing this now but they are in the minority. At national PA education conferences the sessions that look into this are well-attended, so I know the interest is there.
When I'm not doing that, or grading papers, or designing our curriculum I enjoy hanging out with my awesome family, fly fishing, playing tennis or riding my bike, geeing out on the computer, cooking, and fantasizing about home improvement projects.
